Suffering in our early realm doesn't make sense. Why does God allow and sometimes cause suffering?
It made no sense at all in human eyes that God himself would allow His only son to not only go to but cause him to embellish
suffering on a cross beyond human comprehension. Yet, we see something so great hear beyond our human understanding that God
would allow and cause His only Son to be tortured on that cross to defeat sin and death and all who call upon Him and believe
in their heart of Jesus suffering, death, burial and resurrection brings salvation to them as Christ personally truly takes
on their eternal death for them so they can live in eternal comfort forever in heaven, not here.
The most difficult
thing to watch above all else is our own children suffer yet God did not exempt Himself from this pain and anguish in watching
Christ, His son go through this. He of course did this to say "I understand, and it is through suffering and defeat of
death through My son that your children can be saved as they can turn to Him and brought to heaven where there is no more
suffering, no more tears nor sorrow for it will have all passed away," (Revelation 21:4).
Suffering is a product
of sin in the world. Our sin and the sins of all men that affect us. It is sin that causes suffering in this world. God allows
it for a greater work that many times is beyond our human comprehension therefore involves faith to know that in the end,
God brings eternal rest and glory to us who have believed and eternal judgment (suffering) for those who have embraced sin,
refused to be delivered from it thus they live eternally in a place of separation from God in suffering which is opposing
to comfort and life which is in God. God is a God of Comfort, "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the Father of mercies and God of all comfort," 2nd Corinthians 2:3. Any comfort we have today is because of the Lord
and his mercy in this sin ladened world to give us mercy from the perils of sins suffering which ends up in death. We are
all in a state of suffering of some kind daily due to sin in this world.
God does not waste any of the suffering that
we experience for we have the promise of Romans 8:28. God also uses suffering to sanctify us (make us holy), and to show us
how to conquer it through Him.
None of us who are honest would ever say we enjoy suffering. We loath it and in most
cases will do anything to escape it. God has given us some ways to temperate the pain through the medicines he has given (which
is mercy), but until we leave this fallen world and the body of death we wear each day that came through Adam, suffering will
occur but the Lord will prevail for us and our children.
Lastly, compared to eternity it is only for a moment and it
points us to God in the end and our need for Him and His eternal comfort.
"Beloved, do not think it strange concerning
fiery trials that try you as though some strange thing is happening, but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ's
suffering that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy," 1st Peter 4:12-13.
"Therefore
we do not lose heart. Even though the outward man is perishing (suffering and dying), yet the inward man is being renewed
day by day. For our light affliction (your suffering and the suffering of our loved ones), is but for a moment, is
working for us a from more exceeding and eternal weight of glory (heavenly rewards that point toward the glory of Christ),"
2nd Corinthians 4:16-17.
"Concerning this thing (Paul speaking of the thorn in his flesh and pain of it), I pleaded
with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. And he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength
is made perfect in weakness, (Christ speaking to Paul of this matter who had endured it all on the cross saying since He had
defeated suffering and death He could give Paul power to endure and overcome suffering as He trusted Him and that Paul's weakness
in this suffering would in fact bring forth Christ's power), " 2nd Corinthians 12:8-9.
So, let us not like suffering
but understand it is the result of sin in this world and in our bodies and all created since Adam's fall, yet God will not
allow sin to conquer and His righteousness will prevail bringing a new heaven and earth where we will live forever in comfort
with our loved ones and the whole church surrounded by the heavenly host with Christ the shining Son and sun, (Revelation
21:23), with the perfect presence of God consuming us in every way in eternal comfort! This victory comes by our full trust
and faith in Christ the beloved Savior of all the world. May he draw your heart to Him and His one true church, the
Catholic Church.
